Colmar is 40 miles south of Strasbourg and is the capital of the Alsace wine region, it is also fameous fot being the driest town in France being directly to the East of the Vosges mountains.
Beautifully preserved gothic and early renaissance architecture with cobbled streets and half timbered houses with added character provided by its "little Venice".
Since June 2007 journey times to Colmar have been slashed to just 2hours 45 minutes from Paris. (Paris Eurostar terminal 10 minutes walk from Paris Est station for departures to Colmar.)
