The 19th arrondissement is in the north-east of the city, a previously downmarket area which has undergone much recent regeneration. It is traversed by the Saint-Martin and Ourcq canals, which meet at the Parc de la Villette, housing the excellent Cite des Sciences et de l'Industrie and Paris Conservatory. The hilltop Buttes Chaumont public park is also well worth a visit
