Colmar is 40 miles south of Strasbourg and is the capital of the Alsace wine region, it is also fameous fot being the driest town in France being directly to the East of the Vosges mountains.

Beautifully preserved gothic and early renaissance architecture with cobbled streets and half timbered houses with added character provided by its "little Venice".

Since June 2007 journey times to Colmar have been slashed to just 2hours 45 minutes from Paris. (Paris Eurostar terminal 10 minutes walk from Paris Est station for departures to Colmar.) French Travel Service offers rail and hotel holidays to Colmar, a lovely old town at the heart of the Alsace wine region.

Travel is by Eurostar to Paris and a short walk between stations, TGV to Strasbourg and onward local train (30 mins) but from 3rd April 2016 there will be 3 services a day between Lille and Strasbourg so saving some travel time.

Ribeauvillé - Kaysersberg

Morning: Stopover at Kaysersberg, birthplace of Dr. Albert Schweitzer (Nobel Peace Prize in 1952) before driving through more picturesque villages along the Wine Route, with  a stop at Ribeauvillé, charming 13th century town with many Renaissance fountains.

Haut-Koenigsbourg, Riquewihr - Wine tasting

Afternoon: Visit of the famed Castle of Haut Koenigsbourg before conyinuing along the Wine Route to Riquewhir, the "pearl of the vineyard" listed as one of the most beautiful villages of France. To end the trip, a Grands Crus wine tasting in a typical cellar in the heart of the village.
