Right in the lovely historic centre of Arles and originally a Renaissance duke's mansion built on the ruins of medieval buildings, themselves superimposed on Roman ruins, this truly magical hotel is a history lesson in itself.
The welcome is warm, the level of comfort high and charm oozes out of every stone and wooden beam. Each room - 47 in total - is individually styled and decorated with classic Provencal antique furniture, all are with bath or shower, wc, telephone, minibar and free wi-fi. There is a cosy bar, lounge, terrace and heated swimming-pool in the garden. Buffet breakfast with fresh local produce which can be taken in the peaceful inner courtyard as the medieval duke might have done.
Triple room reduction: £15
